   Can I afford counselling sessions?

Yes you can. I offer a sliding scale (adjustable rates) to individuals in financial distress so that they can access treatment. Yes. Confidentiality is a very important part of the counseling process so that we can form a trusting relationship. Everything you share will be kept confidential and never shared without your permission.
There are very specific situations in which states laws and ethical guidelines require exceptions to confidentiality. There are: (1) Suspected past or present abuse or neglect of children, adults, and elders to the authorities, including Child Protection and law enforcement, based on information provided by the client or collateral sources; and (2) If the therapist has reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person.

What can I expect in my first session?

In your first session we will spend some time getting to know each other. We will discuss your needs and what problems you are currently experiencing. I will tell you about myself and how I can best help you. We will review some paperwork and forms, as well as schedules and rates. At the end we will made a plan to meet again.

How long will I be in counseling?

The counseling process is about your journey of recovery. Some individuals opt for a longer counseling arrangement and others prefer shorter packages that focus on specific problems.

   What about medications?

Many individual take medications that help them cope with symptoms like insomnia, severe anxiety or depression. Research has shown repeatedly that medications alone are less effective than when combined with counseling. In other words, they work best together. Medications help with symptom management and counseling work to help learn new coping skills and solutions.
